The Centre of Rehabilitation Excellence (CORE) incorporates the following programs:
- Worksteps – exclusive provider
- Work Conditioning – CARF Accredited
- Work Hardening – CARF Accredited
- Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE)
Work conditioning is an individualized, work-oriented program designed to restore a client's strength, endurance, movement and flexibility. The objective of the work-conditioning program is to restore the client's function to enable a safe return to work. Work conditioning provides a transition between acute care and return to work while addressing motivation, safety and physical tolerances as well as worker behaviors. Conditioning tasks are graded to advance the biomechanical, neuromuscular, cardiovascular/metabolic and psychosocial functions of the client in conjunction with participating in structured and graded job simulation or actual work tasks. This all-inclusive program is designed to increase physical ability and productivity in order to improve employability.
Work Hardening is a highly structured goal-oriented, individualized treatment program designed to return a person to work. Work Hardening programs, which are interdisciplinary in nature, use real or simulated work activities designed to restore physical, behavioral, and vocational functions. Work hardening addresses the issues of productivity, safety, physical tolerances, and worker behaviors.
Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE)
The FCE is a medical test to measure an employee’s function post-injury. The test is designed to document existing impairment, prove consistency, and create realistic objective treatment goals and return to work recommendations.
